HOUSTON (Reuters) - A Texas court on Tuesday stayed the execution of Charles Dean Hood, the day before he was scheduled to be executed by lethal injection for two murders, a Texas newspaper reported.

Last week Texas' attorney general asked for a review of allegations by the condemned inmate that the judge and prosecutor in the case were having an affair.

Hood, who was scheduled to go to the Texas death chamber on Wednesday, alleged that former Collin County Judge Verla Sue Holland and Collin County District Attorney Thomas O'Connell had a secret, intimate relationship

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - The Florida Marlins took another step forward Tuesday in getting a much-needed state-of-the-art stadium built for the franchise.
Miami-Dade County Circuit Court Judge Beth Cohen voted the Marlins' new ballpark would serve as a public purpose, the sixth of seven issues decided against auto dealer Norman Braman's lawsuit to stop the project.
'We welcome Judge Cohen's ruling, which confirms that our elected officials have made the right decision for the future of our community,' Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria said in a released statement. 'It is unfortunate that so much time and so much of the public's money has been wasted in this legal process. It's time to get all of these projects, including the ballpark, back on track for the benefit of the people of Miami-Dade County.'
The Marlins are targeting 2011 for the first season of the estimated $515 million retractable-roof ballpark to be plotted on the grounds of the Orange Bowl in the Little Havana section of Miami.
Since their expansion year of 1993, the Marlins have played home games at Pro Player Stadium, which was recently renamed Dolphin Stadium to accommodate the NFL's Miami franchise. The stadium did undergo some renovations in 1999 to make it more baseball-friendly
